*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Lielupe, a major river in western Latvia, experiences pronounced seasonal changes in water temperature. In winter the river surface commonly sits around 0–1 °C (32–34 °F) where ice forms, and beneath ice it remains just above freezing. Spring thaw warms waters from roughly 2–10 °C (36–50 °F) as snowmelt and runoff flow downstream. Summer months are the warmest, with typical temperatures in many stretches ranging from about 16–24 °C (61–75 °F) during June to August; during heat waves shallow areas can reach the mid-20s °C (mid-70s °F). In autumn the water cools again, often dropping to 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) before the onset of freezing conditions.
Swimming in the Lielupe is permitted in many places but depends on local conditions and regulations. Popular recreational spots near the river mouth and nearby beaches attract swimmers in summer because temperatures are comfortable and some sites are monitored for water quality; however currents, variable depths, shifting sandbanks and occasional pollution after heavy rains can make unguarded stretches hazardous. During winter the river is unsafe for swimming due to ice and near-freezing water temperatures. Local signage, municipal bathing advisories and common-sense precautions should be heeded: choose designated bathing areas, check recent water-quality information, and avoid strong currents or boat traffic.
