** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Misa River in Latvia typically follows the country’s temperate seasonal pattern. In winter the water is at or near freezing, about 0 °C (32 °F) when ice forms on slower stretches; in milder spells winter surface temperatures may hover around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F). Spring thaw brings a rapid rise and more variability, commonly in the range of 2–10 °C (36–50 °F) depending on runoff and recent weather. Summer is when the river is warmest; shallow, sunlit sections often reach about 16–22 °C (61–72 °F), while deeper or shaded pools remain cooler. In autumn temperatures fall back toward 5–12 °C (41–54 °F) as air temperatures drop and flows increase.
Swimming in the Misa is generally possible in summer where the water is warm enough, but it is mostly informal rather than organized with official bathing facilities. Suitability depends on local conditions: currents, sudden depth changes, submerged obstacles and variable water quality affected by runoff or point sources can make some spots unsafe. Authorities or local signs may temporarily restrict bathing after heavy rain or during algal blooms. Ice swimming is popular in Latvia, but river ice can be uneven and unsafe, so ice bathing should only be done at supervised, prepared sites. Always check local advisories and use caution.
