*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Bērze River in Latvia experiences marked seasonal changes in water temperature. During spring thaw and early spring months, temperatures commonly range from about 2–10 °C (35–50 °F) as snowmelt and runoff cool the water. In summer, especially July and August, the river surface often warms to roughly 15–22 °C (59–72 °F) in sheltered stretches on warm years, though shaded or faster-flowing sections stay cooler. Autumn sees a steady decline, with temperatures typically falling to 8–12 °C (46–54 °F) and then approaching 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) by late November. In winter the Bērze frequently reaches freezing or near-freezing conditions and can be ice-covered for parts of the season.
Swimming in the Bērze is generally possible but depends on local conditions and common-sense restrictions. There are no universal bans on bathing in Latvian rivers, yet safety and water quality vary along the course: strong currents, higher flows during spring, submerged hazards, and poor visibility can make some spots unsuitable, and ice cover in winter clearly prohibits normal swimming. Local municipalities may designate safe bathing sites or post warnings, but many places lack lifeguards. Anyone planning to swim should choose calm, shallow stretches, check recent water-quality information and signage, and avoid entering the river alone or after heavy rains or during ice breakup.
