*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Jūrmala (in Latvian – Jūrmala) is a coastal resort on the Gulf of Riga known for its long sandy beaches and several small lakes. Water temperatures in the area vary by season and by whether you measure the sea or sheltered lakes. In winter the surface water often sits around 0–2 °C (32–36 °F) and freezes in cold spells. Spring sees a gradual rise to roughly 2–10 °C (36–50 °F). In summer the Gulf near Jūrmala typically warms to about 15–22 °C (59–72 °F), while shallow inland lakes can reach 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) during warm July–August periods. Autumn cooling brings temperatures back toward 10–15 °C (50–59 °F).
Swimming is allowed at public beaches and in many lakes, and authorities monitor designated bathing sites for water quality and safety; lifeguards are present at popular beaches in high season. The permissibility stems from public access rights and municipal regulation rather than any inherent prohibition, but conditions determine suitability: low temperatures, ice cover in winter, occasional algal blooms, or rough currents can make swimming unsafe or temporarily restricted. Local advisories and posted signs should be followed, and swimmers should account for cooler Baltic waters even on warm days.
