** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Iecava River in Latvia is a small, slow-flowing river whose water temperature varies markedly through the year. In winter the surface typically approaches freezing, around 0 to 1 °C (32 to 34 °F) and often forms ice. Spring thaw brings cooler, variable conditions of roughly 2 to 12 °C (36 to 54 °F) as snowmelt and runoff dominate. Summer is when the river is warmest, with common temperatures in the range of 16 to 22 °C (61 to 72 °F) on warm days, though shallow stretches can warm more quickly and fluctuate with air temperature. In autumn the water cools again to about 5 to 14 °C (41 to 57 °F) as daylight shortens and precipitation patterns change. Local factors such as depth, shading from vegetation and recent weather can shift these ranges by a few degrees.
Swimming in the Iecava is generally possible and practiced at informal spots because there are no widespread permanent bans, but it depends on local conditions. Authorities or landowners may restrict access in places, and water quality, underwater hazards, currents and shallow areas make site-by-site judgement important. In summer many people find temperatures comfortable for bathing, while early spring and late autumn carry hypothermia risk and winter ice requires special precautions. Visitors are advised to check local water quality reports, observe signage and choose sheltered, shallow sections for safer swimming.
