*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Lielā Jugla is a lowland river in central Latvia whose water temperature follows the country’s temperate seasonal cycle. In winter the river commonly approaches freezing, roughly 0–2 °C (32–36 °F), and in many stretches is ice-covered. Spring months warm from about 2–10 °C (36–50 °F) as snowmelt and rainfall raise flows. Summer is when the river reaches its highest temperatures, typically 14–22 °C (57–72 °F) and occasionally climbing to around 24–25 °C (75–77 °F) during prolonged heat. In autumn the surface cools again, moving from roughly 10–8 °C (50–46 °F) in early fall down toward 4–6 °C (39–43 °F) by late November.
Swimming in Lielā Jugla is not uniformly restricted, so recreational bathing is possible at many informal spots, particularly in summer when temperatures are most comfortable. However, local conditions strongly influence safety: currents can be swift after heavy rain, depth and underwater obstructions vary, and water quality may fluctuate with agricultural runoff or urban discharge. There are often no lifeguards, and ice makes winter bathing hazardous except for experienced, prepared winter swimmers using designated, monitored locations. Visitors should heed posted signs, check recent water-quality and flow information, and exercise caution when choosing to enter the river.
