The Krivaja River flows through central and northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, passing through towns such as Olovo and Zavidovići before joining the Bosna River. It is a mountain river with clear, cool water that reflects the surrounding forests and limestone valleys. During winter, the temperature usually ranges between 2 and 5°C, rising in spring to about 10–14°C. In the summer months, particularly in July and August, the Krivaja warms up to 18–22°C in calmer sections, while faster parts remain noticeably colder. In autumn, the water cools again to around 10–15°C.
Swimming in the Krivaja River is possible and quite popular among locals during the summer. The water is clean and refreshing, especially in stretches near Olovo and downstream toward Zavidovići, where natural swimming spots can be found. However, due to its mountain character, the river remains cool even on warm days, making it better suited for short, refreshing swims. Some parts have stronger currents and rocky banks, so swimming is safest in shallow and calm areas. Overall, Krivaja offers a pleasant natural setting for summer recreation.
