*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Kriva Reka (Crooked River) is a major river in the northeastern part of North Macedonia, flowing through the city of Kriva Palanka and into the Vardar. Due to its mountainous headwaters and its flow through a continental climate region, the river water remains quite cold throughout the year. During the winter, the temperature of the Kriva Reka drops to its seasonal minimum, typically ranging from 1∘C to 5∘C. Even in the peak summer months, the water remains brisk, usually reaching only between 15∘C and 19∘C, with cooler temperatures prevailing upstream.
Swimming in the Kriva Reka is not a widely practiced or officially promoted activity. While there are no strict country-wide bans, the extremely cold water temperature and the often swift current, particularly during spring melt and heavy rainfall, pose significant safety risks, which is the main reason swimming is discouraged. Furthermore, as the river flows through a populated valley, its water quality is influenced by agricultural and urban runoff. Any informal swimming that occurs is confined to shallow, slower-moving sections by locals and is done entirely at the individual’s own risk.
