** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Crna River (or Crna Reka) is a significant river in North Macedonia, a right tributary of the Vardar River. Its flow is characterized by a strong seasonal variation in water temperature, influenced by its source high in the mountains and the subsequent passage through the lowlands and the artificial Tikveš Lake. In the upper, fast-flowing sections, the water is consistently cold, dropping to near 0∘C in winter. Downstream, especially in the vast and warmer Tikveš Lake reservoir it creates, surface temperatures can rise considerably in summer, typically reaching 20∘C to 24∘C in the warmest period.
Swimming in the Crna River itself is generally discouraged due to concerns regarding water quality and the strong, unpredictable currents. Like many major Macedonian rivers, it is susceptible to pollution, particularly from agricultural runoff and untreated municipal discharge further along its course. However, swimming is allowed and popular in the large, controlled waters of Tikveš Lake, a major reservoir formed by the Crna River. The lake's warmer summer temperatures and designated recreational areas make it a preferred spot for swimming and water sports, unlike the river's main channel.
