** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Venta River in Lithuania experiences marked seasonal changes in water temperature. In winter the river is close to freezing, typically around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), and often covered by ice in colder spells. During spring, as snowmelt and rains raise flows, temperatures usually climb to about 5–10 °C (41–50 °F). Summer brings the warmest conditions, with surface temperatures commonly in the 15–22 °C range (59–72 °F) and sometimes reaching into the mid-20s °C (mid-70s °F) in shallow, slow-moving stretches on warm, calm days. Autumn sees a gradual cooling, with temperatures generally falling to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) before winter freeze-up.
Swimming in the Venta is possible in many places, but it is not universally recommended without local knowledge and precautions. There are informal and some designated bathing spots used in summer, yet currents, variable depths, submerged obstacles, and periodic water-quality issues after heavy rain can create hazards. Areas near weirs, bridges, and hydro installations may be restricted for safety. In winter the river is unsafe for casual swimming except for supervised winter swimming groups who follow safety protocols. Always check local signs, water-quality advisories, and lifeguard availability before entering the river.
