*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Sværsvann is a small lake in Oslo known locally as a recreational spot, and its water temperature follows the typical seasonal pattern for southeastern Norway. In early spring (April–May) surface temperatures are often low, roughly 2–10 °C (36–50 °F), rising through late spring and early summer to about 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) in June. The warmest months, July and August, commonly see water between 16–22 °C (61–72 °F), occasionally a few degrees higher during heat waves. In autumn (September–October) temperatures fall again to roughly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F), and in winter the lake usually approaches freezing; surface temperatures are around 0 °C (32 °F) when ice forms.
Swimming at Sværsvann is generally allowed and practiced by locals during the summer, since there are no formal bans on bathing in most Norwegian lakes. Popularity stems from easy access and suitable summer temperatures for bathing, but there are no staffed lifeguards, and conditions can vary: water depth, underwater terrain, and occasional algal growth can affect safety and comfort. In winter, swimming is not typical because of ice cover and hypothermia risk, though some people do ice bathing with proper precautions. As always, swimmers should judge conditions, wear appropriate gear, and avoid taking unnecessary risks.
