** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Store Tryvannet is a small lake in the Oslo area whose surface temperatures follow the typical seasonal pattern for inland Norwegian waters. In spring (April–May) the surface is usually cool, roughly 2–12 °C (36–54 °F) as air temperatures climb and ice melts. In summer (June–August) the lake commonly warms to about 15–22 °C (59–72 °F), and on warm spells may reach around 24 °C (75 °F). Autumn (September–November) brings a steady cooling to roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F) as daylight and air temperatures fall. During winter months (December–March) the lake is often at or below freezing and frequently ice-covered; when unfrozen or close to the freezing point surface waters may be around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) but can be much colder at depth.
Swimming at Store Tryvannet is generally possible and commonly practiced in the warmer months because it is a publicly accessible natural lake, but there are no formal lifeguards or extensive bathing facilities. Water quality in such lakes is usually acceptable for bathing but can vary with runoff, algae conditions, and recent weather, so local advisories or signage should be checked. Caution is advised for depth changes, cold-water shock after short exposure, and especially ice safety in winter, when swimming is unsafe except for organized, well-equipped cold-water or ice-swimming activities with proper precautions.
