*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Bogstadvannet (Norwegian: Bogstadvannet) is a popular recreational lake near Oslo in the former Akershus County. Water temperatures vary considerably through the year: in spring (April–May) surface temperatures typically rise from about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as ice melts and the sun strengthens. Summer (June–August) brings the warmest conditions, with surface readings often between 16–24 °C (61–75 °F) on sunny days, though cooler weather can keep it nearer 14–18 °C (57–64 °F). Into autumn (September–October) temperatures commonly fall to 8–14 °C (46–57 °F). In winter the lake can drop to around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) and often freezes over, making open-water swimming impractical and hazardous.
Swimming at Bogstadvannet is generally allowed and widely practised because the shoreline includes designated bathing areas and public access for recreation. Local authorities routinely monitor water quality during the bathing season and issue advisories if blue‑green algae, elevated bacterial levels, or other temporary concerns arise; when such notices are posted swimming should be avoided. There are few permanent lifeguards, so visitors are expected to use common-sense precautions against cold shock and sudden weather changes, and to follow any official guidance about when bathing is advisable.
