*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Øvresetertjern is a small forest lake in Oslo county and experiences the same seasonal patterns as many inland Norwegian lakes. In winter the surface usually reaches around 0 °C (32 °F) and commonly forms ice from late autumn into early spring. Spring sees a steady rise, with water temperatures often in the range of 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as snowmelt cools the lake. During summer the water typically warms to roughly 12–22 °C (54–72 °F), though in warm years the shallow areas can climb a few degrees higher. In autumn temperatures decline again toward 5–12 °C (41–54 °F) as cooling weather and shorter days reduce heat input.
Swimming at Øvresetertjern is generally permitted: Norway’s public right of access (allemannsretten) allows bathing in most natural waters, and there are no formal bathing restrictions in many forest lakes. That said, there are usually no lifeguards, facilities, or regular water-quality monitoring at small lakes, so visitors should judge conditions themselves. Cold-water shock early and late in the year and thin ice in shoulder seasons are the main hazards; during summer the lake is most comfortable for casual swimming. Those intending ice bathing or winter activities should take proper safety precautions and check local conditions before entering the water.
