** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lutvann is a small forest lake in Oslo known for clear, cool water and surrounding walking trails. Seasonal surface temperatures typically range from near freezing in winter to pleasantly cool in summer: during winter months the water is usually around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) and often ice-covered, spring sees a rise to roughly 3–12 °C (37–54 °F) as the ice breaks up, while summer surface temperatures commonly reach about 15–22 °C (59–72 °F) on warmer days. In autumn the surface cools again to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) as air temperatures drop and stratification weakens.
Swimming at Lutvann is generally allowed because it is a public natural lake and there are informal bathing spots along the shoreline; it is used by locals in summer and occasionally for cold-water dips in winter where ice conditions permit. There are normally no lifeguards or formal facilities, so access is based on public right of way and the lake’s water quality and natural setting. Visitors should be aware of variable temperatures, the risk of cold shock in cooler months, and changing ice conditions before attempting winter bathing or swimming.
