*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Tyrifjorden in Buskerud County, Norway is a large inland lake where surface water temperatures vary considerably through the year. In winter the lake is usually near freezing, about 0–2 °C (32–36 °F) and can develop ice cover in cold periods. Spring temperatures typically rise to roughly 2–8 °C (36–46 °F) as the ice melts and the water mixes. By early summer surface temperatures commonly reach 10–16 °C (50–61 °F), with the warmest months of July and August often giving 16–22 °C (61–72 °F) in open areas and occasionally a little higher in shallow, sheltered bays (around 23 °C / 73 °F). In autumn the water cools again, generally falling into the 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) range before winter freeze.
Swimming in Tyrifjorden is permitted and popular in summer where public beaches, piers and boat ramps provide access. There are no general prohibitions against swimming, but conditions vary: colder temperatures outside peak months increase risk of cold-water shock, and boat traffic, sudden depth changes and local water quality can affect safety. Because the lake is large and partly deep, swimmers commonly choose supervised or well-used spots and may use wetsuits in cooler conditions to extend comfortable swimming time.
