*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Shatsk Lakes are a unique system of over 20 large and small lakes in Volyn, forming the namesake national nature park. In terms of water temperature, they can be divided into two categories. The largest lake, Svityaz, being the deepest in Ukraine (up to 58 meters), has great thermal inertia; its surface water layers in mid-summer (July-August) usually warm up to +20 to +23∘C and above, but the temperature remains low at depth, around +9∘C. At the same time, shallower lakes like Pisochne or Velyke Chorne (Great Black) heat up much faster due to their limited depth and can offer the most comfortable swimming temperatures, sometimes reaching +24 to +26∘C on the hottest days.
The swimming opportunities at the Shatsk Lakes are exceptionally appealing. The swimming season officially runs from mid-June to the end of August. The main advantage is the clean, transparent water, sandy bottom, and gentle, shallow entry points, especially at Svityaz (in the Hryada area), making them ideal for family holidays with children. The tourist infrastructure around the most popular lakes, such as Svityaz and Pisochne, is well-developed, featuring equipped beaches, resorts, and rental services for boats and catamarans.
For those seeking quiet and solitude, the smaller lakes like Pulemetske or Lyutsimyr offer more wild swimming spots amidst the forest massifs, although the infrastructure there is minimal. Overall, the Shatsk Lakes are an excellent alternative to a seaside vacation, combining the healing purity of the water with the unique nature of Polissia.
