Scarborough Mere is a shallow freshwater lake set just inland from Scarborough’s seafront, so its water temperature varies with the seasons and local weather. In winter the surface can be chilly, often around 2–6 °C (36–43 °F). Spring sees a steady rise to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F), while summer can bring the warmest conditions, typically 15–22 °C (59–72 °F) on milder days.
