Öjen in Kronoberg County (Swedish: Öjen, Kronoberg) is a typical Småland lake with seasonal variation in surface temperature. In spring the water is cold, commonly around 4–10 °C (39–50 °F) as ice melts and the season progresses. By early summer temperatures often rise to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), and the warmest period is usually July–August when surface readings can reach about 17–23 °C (63–73 °F) on sunny, calm days. In early autumn the lake cools again to roughly 10–16 °C (50–61 °F), while winter conditions commonly drop the surface close to freezing, around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), with ice cover possible depending on the winter.
Swimming at Öjen is generally permitted.
