*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Mien in Kronoberg County is a freshwater lake whose surface temperatures follow the typical seasonal pattern for southern Swedish lakes. In spring the surface usually warms from about 2–12 °C (36–54 °F) as ice thaws and sunlight increases. Summer surface temperatures commonly reach 16–22 °C (61–72 °F) on warm days, though brief heat spells can push readings a few degrees higher. During autumn the water cools again to roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F), and in winter the lake often approaches freezing with surface temperatures near 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) and may be ice-covered. Deeper layers stay colder year-round, so overall bathing conditions vary with depth and weather.
Swimming at Mien is generally possible and permitted, reflecting Sweden’s public right of access and the lake’s recreational use. Most people swim in the summer months when surface temperatures are most comfortable; caution is advised outside that season because cold water increases the risk of cold shock and hypothermia. Local bathing sites or municipal information will note any water-quality advisories, restricted areas or specific safety recommendations. There are not typically lifeguards at rural lakes, so swimmers should exercise normal precautions such as avoiding alcohol, entering gradually, and staying within sight of others.
