** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Löften in Kalmar County typically follows the temperature patterns of many small Swedish inland lakes. During summer the surface water commonly warms to around 15–24 °C (59–75 °F), with warm spells occasionally pushing temperatures toward the high 20s °C (around 80 °F) in shallow bays. In spring the lake usually ranges from about 2–12 °C (36–54 °F) as the ice melts and water stratifies, while autumn sees a cooling back to roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as the surface loses heat. Winter conditions bring temperatures close to freezing; the water at and under any ice will be near 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) and sections of the lake may be ice-covered for several months depending on the winter severity.
Swimming in Löften is generally allowed, in line with Sweden’s public access principles, unless local signs or private restrictions indicate otherwise. People swim there for recreation in summer, but caution is advised because temperatures can remain uncomfortably cold except in peak summer, and sudden depth changes, underwater vegetation and boat traffic may present hazards. Water quality can vary seasonally; therefore it is sensible to heed local advisories, supervise children, and be mindful of ice safety in winter rather than attempting to swim through or beneath ice.
