*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Mulberry Fork, a major tributary of the Black Warrior River in north-central Alabama, winds through forested hills and rural landscapes, offering both scenic beauty and recreational value. Although technically a river rather than a lake, its wide and gently flowing sections resemble natural reservoirs. The water temperature varies with the seasons, reflecting Alabama’s humid subtropical climate. In winter, surface temperatures typically range between 45 and 52°F (7–11°C). During spring, the river warms to about 60–70°F (16–21°C), and in midsummer, it often reaches 78–84°F (26–29°C), with shallower areas heating even more quickly. By autumn, the temperature gradually cools back to around 65–72°F (18–22°C) before returning to winter levels.
Swimming is permitted along much of the Mulberry Fork, though conditions depend on local flow and access. During summer, the warm water and moderate current create comfortable conditions for swimming, tubing, and kayaking, particularly in calm stretches and small pools formed between gentle rapids. However, after heavy rainfall, the current can strengthen and become less suitable for casual swimmers. Because the Mulberry Fork is part of an active river system rather than a managed lake, visitors should always assess safety and water levels before entering. Under normal summer conditions, it provides pleasant, natural swimming experiences in a peaceful, rural environment.
