*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Aliceville Lake, located on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway along the Alabama–Mississippi border, enjoys a humid subtropical climate that keeps its waters relatively warm for much of the year. During winter, surface temperatures usually range between 46 and 54°F (8–12°C), remaining cool but rarely approaching freezing. In spring, as air temperatures rise rapidly, the water warms to about 60–70°F (16–21°C). By summer, Aliceville Lake reaches its peak warmth, averaging 80–86°F (27–30°C) in July and August, which makes the water comfortably warm for swimming, boating, and fishing. In autumn, temperatures gradually decrease to around 65–72°F (18–22°C), maintaining mild and pleasant conditions until late in the season.
Swimming in Aliceville Lake is generally allowed and popular, especially around established recreation areas and campgrounds along its Alabama shoreline. The gentle slopes of the banks and the relatively calm waters make it suitable for families and casual swimmers, though visibility can be low because of natural sediment and aquatic vegetation. The long, warm season—from May through September—offers the best opportunities for swimming and other water activities. However, as with many reservoirs and waterways in the region, swimmers should be mindful of boat traffic, fluctuating water levels, and designated safe zones monitored by local authorities.
