** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Marsh Creek Reservoir in southeastern Pennsylvania experiences typical temperate-latitude lake temperatures that vary with the seasons. In winter the surface often hovers near freezing, roughly 33–40°F (1–4°C), and ice can form in sustained cold spells. Spring warms from about 40–60°F (4–16°C) as runoff and air temperatures rise. Peak summer surface temperatures commonly reach 70–78°F (21–26°C) on warm afternoons, though deeper water can remain much cooler, often in the 40s–50s°F (4–12°C) because the reservoir thermally stratifies. In autumn the surface cools back to roughly 50–65°F (10–18°C) as air temperatures fall and mixing increases.
Swimming in Marsh Creek Reservoir itself is not permitted as part of park management and public-safety practice. Restrictions are based on concerns about water quality, sudden depth changes and submerged hazards, boat traffic and wakes, and the absence of supervised lifeguarded areas on the open reservoir. These factors raise drowning and pollution risks, so recreational use is generally directed toward boating and fishing in designated areas rather than unsupervised swimming. Visitors seeking swimming opportunities are advised to use staffed swimming facilities or designated beaches where lifeguards, water-quality monitoring, and appropriate safety infrastructure are provided.
