** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Specific, long-term temperature records for Lake Luxembourg in Pennsylvania are not widely published, but it behaves much like other small temperate lakes in the state. Surface water in winter commonly sits near freezing, roughly 32–40°F (0–4°C), and shallow areas may ice over. In spring temperatures usually climb into the 40–60°F range (4–16°C) as the lake mixes and stratifies. Summer brings the warmest surface readings, often between about 68–80°F (20–27°C), with sheltered bays occasionally reaching the low 80s (around 27–28°C) on hot, calm days. By autumn the surface cools again to roughly 50–65°F (10–18°C) as turnover begins.
Swimming at Lake Luxembourg depends on ownership, posted rules and water quality rather than temperature alone. Where the shoreline is publicly managed or the lake is designated for recreation, swimming is generally permitted during the warm months when surface temperatures are in the comfortable summer range and no advisories are in effect. Private lakes or homeowners’ associations may restrict access, and even when access is allowed swimmers should watch for hazards (cold-shock risk outside summer, sudden depth changes, boat traffic) and obey any advisories about harmful algal blooms or bacterial contamination.
