** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Green Lane Reservoir’s water temperatures vary widely through the year and with depth. In spring the surface generally runs cool, often in the 40s to low 60s °F (roughly 4–16 °C) as runoff and seasonal cooling dominate. By early to mid‑summer surface temperatures commonly rise into the mid‑60s to upper‑70s °F (about 18–26 °C), with the warmest patches on shallow, sun‑exposed bays; however, deeper water can remain substantially colder year‑round. In autumn the surface cools back into the 40s–60s °F (7–16 °C) range, and in winter the reservoir can approach freezing with surface temperatures near 32–40 °F (0–4 °C) and occasional ice cover in cold spells. These are approximate ranges; actual conditions depend on weather, inflow, and depth.
Swimming in the reservoir itself is generally not permitted at Green Lane due to safety and resource‑management reasons. Restrictions reflect concerns about sudden cold water and depth changes, submerged hazards, boat traffic, and the need to protect water quality and reservoir operations. Cold, deep water also raises hypothermia risk even in summer months for unprepared swimmers. Recreational opportunities such as boating and fishing are offered under park rules, but formal beach swimming is not provided at the reservoir, so visitors should follow posted regulations and use designated areas for water contact if available elsewhere in the park.
