*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lost Creek Lake, a Corps of Engineers reservoir on the Rogue River in southern Oregon, shows distinct seasonal water temperatures and layering. In winter the surface typically sits around 40–46°F (4–8°C), while spring brings a gradual rise to roughly 45–60°F (7–16°C) as runoff and warming air temperatures affect the top layer. By midsummer surface temperatures commonly reach about 60–75°F (16–24°C) on warm days, though deeper water remains much cooler (often in the mid‑40s to low‑50s °F, about 7–12°C) because of thermal stratification. In autumn the surface cools back toward the 50s °F (10–15°C) as air temperatures drop.
Swimming at Lost Creek Lake is generally permitted, but it is done at one’s own risk and conditions vary. There are developed recreation areas and beaches where people commonly swim during the warmest weeks, but there are typically no lifeguards and boat traffic, sudden changes in water level, and cold subsurface water pose hazards. Because of the potential for cold shock, hypothermia and limited supervision, swimmers should heed posted signs, wear flotation if unsure, and avoid deep or off‑shore areas especially outside the warmest months.
