*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Little Sebago Lake in Maine experiences a clear seasonal cycle in water temperature. In spring the surface typically rises from near freezing to about 40–60°F (4–16°C) as ice melts and the upper layers warm. Summer brings the warmest conditions, with common surface temperatures in the 68–78°F range (20–26°C) and occasional warm spells pushing toward 80°F (27°C) on hot days. Early autumn usually sees cooling to roughly 55–70°F (13–21°C) as air temperatures fall and the lake destratifies. In winter the lake often has ice cover and surface water sits at or just above 32°F (0°C), while deeper water approaches the density maximum near 39°F (4°C).
Swimming is permitted and is a popular recreational use of the lake during the ice‑free months because summer and early fall surface temperatures are generally comfortable for most swimmers. In practice, swimming is limited by seasonal ice and cold-water hazards: ice cover and near‑freezing temperatures in late fall through early spring make swimming unsafe or impractical. Access may be from public boat launches, shorelines, private camps, or designated beaches, and usual caution about cold shock, boat traffic, and local rules should be observed.
