*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Kezar Lake in western Maine typically follows the pattern of many glacial lakes in the region, with surface water warming through late spring and peaking in midsummer. Typical seasonal surface temperatures run roughly 40–55°F (4–13°C) in spring as the ice melts and the lake stratifies, rising to about 65–75°F (18–24°C) in early to mid-summer and occasionally reaching the upper 70s°F (around 25–26°C) on hot, calm afternoons. By early fall the surface cools back through the 60s and 50s°F (15–10°C), and winter brings ice and near-freezing conditions around 32°F (0°C) in areas covered by ice. Deeper waters remain noticeably colder year-round and thermoclines can produce sharp temperature gradients beneath the surface.
Swimming at Kezar Lake is a seasonal activity and is generally allowed at public access points and town-managed beaches; summertime is the most common time for recreational swimming because surface temperatures are most comfortable then. The lake’s still waters do not create strong currents, but swimmers should be mindful of cold-water shock in spring and fall and the risk of hypothermia if venturing into colder or deeper water. Local authorities or beach postings should be consulted for current conditions and any advisories.
