*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Conway Lake in New Hampshire experiences a wide range of water temperatures through the year. In spring, after ice-out, surface temperatures are commonly cool, roughly 40–60°F (4–16°C) as the lake warms. By summer the top layer typically rises to about 65–75°F (18–24°C), with occasional warm spells pushing parts of the surface into the mid-70s to around 80°F (24–27°C) on very hot days. In autumn the surface cools back toward 50–60°F (10–15°C) before the lake freezes; under winter ice the water near the surface stays near 32–34°F (0–1°C). These figures refer primarily to surface conditions and vary with weather, depth, wind and shading, so deeper water remains markedly colder throughout the year.
Swimming at Conway Lake is a common recreational activity and is generally allowed, particularly in summer when surface temperatures are most comfortable. Access points and private shorelines are used for swimming, but conditions can change quickly so swimmers should exercise caution: there are often no lifeguards, water quality advisories can occur, and cold-water shock is a risk outside the warmest months. Ice and winter swimming are hazardous unless ice thickness and safety have been professionally verified.
