** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Sivers is a typical Latvian freshwater body where seasonal water temperatures follow the regional pattern. In spring, from April to May, surface temperatures usually rise from near freezing after ice melt to roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as the lake stratifies. Summer months, especially June through August, see the warmest conditions with common surface temperatures between about 16–22 °C (61–72 °F); during warm spells shallow areas can reach the mid-20s °C (mid-70s °F). In autumn the surface cools back to roughly 10–15 °C (50–59 °F) before the lake re-freezes in winter, when surface water is at or below 0 °C (32 °F) and the lake can be ice-covered for weeks or months depending on the year.
Swimming in Lake Sivers is generally possible and often enjoyed in the warmer months when surface temperatures are comfortable for bathing. Public access points and beaches, where present, allow recreational swimming, though conditions vary with weather, water depth, and local water quality. In winter, open-water swimming is not advisable except for experienced ice-swimmers using proper safety measures, since ice thickness, water temperature, and rescue availability pose significant risks. As with any natural lake, visitors should heed local signage, check for water-quality notices, and observe basic safety precautions such as not swimming alone and avoiding sudden deep areas.
