*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lacul Herăstrău (in Romanian: Lacul Herăstrău) is the largest lake in Bucharest’s Herăstrău Park and shows marked seasonal variation in surface water temperature. In winter the lake often approaches freezing, commonly around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F). During spring temperatures typically rise to roughly 6–16 °C (43–61 °F) as air warms and sunlight increases. In summer, surface waters can reach their highest values, frequently in the 18–26 °C range (64–79 °F) on warm days, while autumn sees a progressive cooling with temperatures generally between 8–15 °C (46–59 °F). Local conditions such as weather patterns, wind, shading and inflows can shift these ranges from year to year and between shallow and deeper areas.
Officially, swimming in Lacul Herăstrău is not permitted for several practical reasons. Water quality in an urban lake is variable and is not consistently treated to bathing standards, there are safety concerns due to boat traffic and lack of permanent lifeguard cover, and submerged hazards and variable depths increase risk. Occasional informal or occasional recreational dips may occur, but these are at the swimmer’s own risk and can be subject to local enforcement. For supervised, safe swimming people are usually directed to designated public pools or managed bathing sites where water quality and safety are controlled.
