*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lacul Herăstrău (Herăstrău Lake) is a shallow urban lake in the Bucharest–Ilfov area whose surface water temperature fluctuates through the year with the local seasons. In winter the lake often approaches near-freezing conditions, typically around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F). Spring brings a steady warming, with surface temperatures commonly between 6–15 °C (43–59 °F) as air temperatures rise. In summer the lake can warm significantly, with usual ranges of about 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) and occasional peaks up to 27–28 °C (80–82 °F) during heatwaves. Autumn sees a cooling trend back toward 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) before winter refreezes the surface in colder years. These values are approximate and vary with weather, depth, and wind.
Swimming in Lacul Herăstrău is generally not allowed and is discouraged by local authorities for several reasons. Water quality can be variable, with risks from urban runoff, algae or cyanobacterial blooms at times, and there is no regular lifeguard service or maintained bathing infrastructure. In addition, boat traffic and submerged hazards create safety concerns. Occasionally officially sanctioned events or controlled activities may permit entry under supervision, but for casual bathing the municipal regulations and safety considerations mean that swimming is typically prohibited.
