** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Aijažu Ezers, like many small Latvian lakes, exhibits pronounced seasonal temperature variation. In spring the surface usually warms from near freezing to roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as air temperatures rise; by early summer it commonly reaches 17–24 °C (63–75 °F), with warmest afternoons sometimes a few degrees higher. In late summer and early autumn the lake typically cools to about 8–16 °C (46–61 °F), and in winter the surface temperature hovers close to 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) and is often ice-covered for prolonged periods. These figures represent typical surface water ranges; deeper water will remain colder and respond more slowly to seasonal warming.
Swimming in Aijažu Ezers is generally possible during the warmer months because it is a natural body of water used for recreation, but whether it is advisable depends on local conditions. Access and safety can be affected by shoreline vegetation, steep or muddy approaches, absence of lifeguards, and variable water quality; some areas may be on private land or in protected zones where bathing is restricted. In winter, ice swimming is practiced in Latvia but should only be attempted where ice thickness and local practices confirm safety. It is sensible to check on-site signs, local authorities or residents about current water quality and permitted use before entering the water.
