** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Ungurs (Unguru ezers) is a small freshwater lake in Latvia whose surface temperatures follow the typical northern temperate pattern. In spring (April–May) the water commonly warms from around 3–12 °C (37–54 °F) as ice melts and air temperatures rise. Summer (June–August) brings the warmest conditions, with surface values often between 16–24 °C (61–75 °F) at typical bathing depths on sunny, calm days; shallow bays can warm slightly higher. In autumn (September–October) temperatures usually fall to about 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) and by late autumn and winter the lake approaches near-freezing conditions, with water under ice around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) and the surface freezing over in sustained cold spells. Local depth, shading, inflows and weather can produce variation from these ranges.
Swimming at Ungurs is generally possible where there is public shoreline access and no prohibitory signage, because it is a natural freshwater body commonly used for recreation. However, suitability for bathing depends on current water temperature, weather, water quality (including occasional algal blooms) and the presence or absence of safe entry points, lifeguards or facilities. Visitors should check on-site notices or local guidance before entering the water, prefer summer months for comfortable temperatures, and exercise normal precautions for open-water swimming.
