*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lac Memphrémagog is a long, glacial lake that straddles the border between Quebec, Canada, and Vermont, USA — it does not reach New York. Surface water temperatures vary markedly with the seasons. In spring (April–May) the lake is chilly, often in the 40s–50s °F (5–15 °C) as snowmelt and cool air keep temperatures low. By early summer (June) surface readings commonly rise into the upper 50s to mid 60s °F (15–19 °C), and peak summer (July–August) averages are typically in the upper 60s to mid 70s °F (20–24 °C) on warm afternoons. In September temperatures drop back into the 50s–60s °F (10–20 °C), and in winter the lake can be close to freezing with ice cover in some years, keeping surface water near 32–39 °F (0–4 °C).
Swimming in the Vermont and Quebec portions is generally allowed and popular during the warmer months because of public beaches and ongoing water-quality monitoring. Local authorities may close specific sites if tests show contamination or harmful algal blooms, and cold-water immersion remains a hazard even in summer due to depth and sudden thermoclines. Winter swimming is uncommon because of ice and dangerously low temperatures. As always, swimmers should follow posted advisories, lifeguard notices, and basic cold-water safety precautions.
