*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Isteren is a freshwater lake in Innlandet County whose surface temperatures follow the familiar seasonal cycle of inland Norwegian lakes. In spring the water is cold, often in the range of about 2–10 °C (36–50 °F) as snowmelt and cool air keep temperatures down. In summer the lake can warm to roughly 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) at the surface on sunny, calm days, with the warmest conditions typically in July and August; shallow bays may be a few degrees warmer. In autumn the water cools again to roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) and by winter the lake approaches freezing, around 0 °C (32 °F) where ice forms in colder years.
Swimming in Isteren is generally possible and commonly practiced during the warmer months, because Norwegian access rights usually allow shore access and the water quality in forest and mountain lakes of Innlandet is typically good. Bathing should be approached with caution: there are no lifeguards, sudden weather changes and cold water shock are risks, and ice makes swimming unsafe in winter. Early and late season swims often call for a wetsuit or short exposure times. Always check local signage and conditions before entering the water, and follow basic safety measures when swimming in remote lake environments.
