*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Dokkfløyvatnet, often called Dokkfløyvatnet in Norwegian, is a reservoir in Innlandet County whose water temperatures follow a typical mountain-lake pattern. Surface temperatures in mid-summer (July–August) commonly reach about 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) on warm years, while late spring and early summer (May–June) are cooler around 4–10 °C (39–50 °F). In autumn the surface cools to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) before winter brings the lake down to near freezing; parts may ice over and remain close to 0 °C (32 °F) during the coldest months. Deeper water stays markedly colder year-round, so temperature stratification and sudden thermoclines are possible.
Swimming at Dokkfløyvatnet is generally practiced by locals and visitors in summer but warrants caution. The lake is a regulated reservoir for hydroelectric use, which means water levels and currents can change quickly when releases occur; this, combined with steep banks, submerged structures and cold water, raises safety risks. There are no universal prohibitions against bathing, but access points, signs and local guidance should be observed. For safer swimming choose sheltered, shallow areas on warm days, avoid solo cold-water immersion, and be aware of sudden outflows and boat traffic.
