*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Aursunden is a large lake in Trøndelag County and its water temperatures follow the typical seasonal pattern of inland Norwegian lakes. In winter the surface is usually at or just above freezing beneath ice, roughly 0–1 °C (32–34 °F). During spring the water gradually warms to around 2–8 °C (36–46 °F) as ice breaks up. Summer surface temperatures commonly range from about 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), though brief warm spells can push shallow bays toward 20–22 °C (68–72 °F). In autumn the lake cools again to roughly 6–11 °C (43–52 °F) before refreezing. These values vary with weather, depth and exposure, so local measurements will differ from place to place and from year to year.
Swimming in Aursunden is generally permitted and falls under Norway’s broad right to access natural areas, but whether it is advisable depends on season and conditions. Summer swimming is popular where shore access and sheltered bays make the water more comfortable, while winter swimming is only for experienced, well-prepared individuals because of ice, near-freezing temperatures and rapid heat loss. The lake is often remote and unguarded, so swimmers should be mindful of sudden weather, boat traffic, and lack of lifeguards, and check local guidance on water quality or restrictions before entering.
