** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Båven in Södermanland typically follows the seasonal pattern of many Swedish inland lakes. In spring (April–May) surface temperatures rise from around 4–10 °C (39–50 °F) as the ice melts. By early summer (June) temperatures are commonly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), reaching their warmest in July and August at roughly 18–22 °C (64–72 °F), with occasional heat-driven peaks slightly higher. In autumn (September–October) the water cools again to roughly 10–15 °C (50–59 °F) and by late autumn into winter the surface drops toward 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) before freezing conditions set in, when swimming is generally not possible without winter-bathing arrangements.
Swimming in Båven is generally allowed and relatively common during the warmer months thanks to Sweden’s right of public access and several accessible shoreline spots and boat landings. Bathing is popular in summer when surface temperatures are comfortable, but visitors should be aware of variable depth, underwater vegetation, boat traffic and the potential for algal blooms in hot weather; local advisories can affect suitability. In winter, ordinary swimming is unsafe due to cold and ice, though some people practice organized winter bathing with appropriate safety measures.
