*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Beltzville Lake in eastern Pennsylvania experiences a wide seasonal swing in surface water temperatures. In winter the surface typically approaches near-freezing conditions, roughly 33–40°F (1–4°C). Spring sees a steady rise, often ranging from about 40–60°F (4–16°C) as the upper layers warm. During summer, surface temperatures are most comfortable for recreation, frequently between about 68–82°F (20–28°C) on warm afternoons, with shallow bays occasionally reaching the mid-80s°F (around 29°C). In fall the lake cools again to roughly 50–65°F (10–18°C). Deeper waters remain substantially cooler year-round; during summer the hypolimnion can stay in the 50s°F (10–15°C), so temperature varies with depth and location.
Swimming is allowed at Beltzville Lake in designated recreational areas because the reservoir is managed for multiple uses, including boating, fishing and beach swimming. Authorities limit swimming to marked zones to reduce conflicts with boat traffic, protect water quality and provide a safer environment for bathers. Open-water swimming outside those areas can be colder and riskier because of boat wakes, sudden depth changes, and colder deep water, so following posted rules and seasonal advisories improves safety.
