** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Embalse de El Naranjero, a reservoir in the province of Valencia, experiences a wide annual temperature range that affects its suitability for swimming. In winter the surface water typically cools to around 8–12 °C (46–54 °F), spring brings a gradual rise to roughly 12–20 °C (54–68 °F), summer surface temperatures commonly reach about 20–28 °C (68–82 °F) and can occasionally peak near 30 °C (86 °F) in heatwaves, while autumn sees cooling back toward spring values. These figures are approximate and vary with weather, depth, and inflows; deeper water remains colder year-round and sudden releases from dams can lower temperatures quickly.
Swimming opportunities at El Naranjero are limited by safety and management considerations. As a managed reservoir used for irrigation and possibly hydroelectric purposes, it can have variable water levels, submerged hazards, strong undercurrents near outlets, and water-quality or infrastructure protections; for these reasons authorities often restrict or regulate bathing in reservoirs. Locals may swim in accessible bays during warm months, but there are typically no lifeguards and signage or local regulations should be consulted before entering the water. Swimming is therefore possible in practice in summer conditions, but it may not be officially permitted or safe in all areas.
