** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Embalse de Cortes de Pallás (Cortes II Reservoir) shows clear seasonal variation in water temperature driven by Mediterranean inland climate and reservoir depth. In winter the surface water commonly sits around 8–12 °C (46–54 °F), spring brings a gradual rise to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), and summer surface temperatures often reach 20–26 °C (68–79 °F), occasionally peaking near 28 °C (82 °F) in very warm years. Autumn usually cools the reservoir back to about 14–20 °C (57–68 °F). Localized conditions such as cold currents from dam releases, shaded coves and deep water can make actual temperatures lower than surface readings, so swimmers may find colder pockets even on warm days.
Swimming at Cortes de Pallás is commonly discouraged or restricted rather than openly promoted. As a managed reservoir used for hydroelectric generation and water supply, there are safety and water-quality reasons for limitations: sudden changes in water level, strong currents near the dam, submerged obstacles and the need to protect drinking-water resources. While people sometimes swim in calmer bays when authorities do not explicitly prohibit it, visitors should respect posted regulations and exercise caution, because official rules and safety conditions can change with operations and seasons.
