*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Dierks Lake, located in southwest Arkansas along the Saline River near the town of Dierks, is a scenic reservoir surrounded by forested hills and natural shoreline. The lake’s water temperature varies with the seasons, reflecting the region’s warm, humid climate and relatively shallow depth. In winter, the water typically remains between 7–11 °C (45–52 °F), too cold for swimming. During spring, as air temperatures rise, the lake gradually warms to about 15–22 °C (59–72 °F). By midsummer, surface waters reach their warmest levels, averaging 25–30 °C (77–86 °F), while shaded coves and deeper areas stay slightly cooler. In autumn, the water cools again to 15–20 °C (59–68 °F) before returning to winter levels as the weather cools.
Swimming in Dierks Lake is officially permitted and is most popular during the summer months, from late May through early September, when the water reaches its most comfortable temperature range. Designated swimming areas, including the public beach at Blue Ridge Recreation Area, offer safe access and maintained facilities. The lake’s clean, calm water makes it ideal for family recreation, wading, and other water sports. Outside of summer, swimming becomes less enjoyable due to colder temperatures, though Dierks Lake remains attractive for fishing, camping, and boating throughout the year.
