*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Columbia, a 3,000-acre reservoir in South Central Arkansas near Magnolia, experiences water temperatures typical of the region's humid, subtropical climate. In the cool winter months, the surface water temperature ranges from the 40s to low 50s F (4∘C to 13∘C). During the long, peak summer season (July and August), the lake warms significantly, with surface temperatures often reaching a very comfortable and warm range for swimming, generally peaking between 75∘F and 85∘F (24∘C to 29∘C).
Swimming is widely permitted and encouraged in Lake Columbia, as the area includes public recreational facilities. The Lake Columbia Campground and RV Park area, managed by the City of Magnolia, features a designated swim beach, confirming its status as a supported recreational site for water contact. However, these designated swimming areas are typically unsupervised, meaning there are no official lifeguards on duty, and all swimming is strictly at one's own risk. Users should be cautious of boat traffic in the western half of the lake, which is open for water sports, and be mindful of the lack of official water quality monitoring.
