*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Covão dos Conchos is an artificial reservoir and iconic spillway in the Serra da Estrela range, Guarda District, Portugal. Because it sits at higher elevation and is fed by mountain runoff, the water remains cool year-round. Typical seasonal surface temperatures commonly range from about 0–6 °C (32–43 °F) in winter, 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) in spring, roughly 10–20 °C (50–68 °F) in summer at the warmest shallow spots, and 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) in autumn. Actual temperatures vary with weather, depth and inflow, and deeper or shaded areas will be several degrees colder than measured surface values.
Swimming at Covão dos Conchos is generally discouraged and in many respects effectively not allowed. The site is part of a managed water infrastructure and a protected mountain landscape, so access may be restricted; there are also real safety hazards such as cold water, strong currents or undertows near the spillway, slippery rocks, and the possibility of sudden water-level changes. While some visitors do enter the water, authorities and local guides typically advise against swimming both for personal safety and to protect water resources and the environment. Visitors should follow posted signs and local guidance.
