** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Prilep is a major city in central North Macedonia, situated in a valley with a pronounced continental climate. The city's primary nearby water body is the Prilep Lake (Prilepsko Ezero), an artificial reservoir, and the Crna Reka (Black River) which flows further west. The water temperature of these bodies varies greatly with the seasons. In winter, temperatures are very cold, typically dropping to between 3∘C and 7∘C. During the summer, the shallower areas of the lake can warm up, potentially reaching between 20∘C and 24∘C, while the larger, deeper sections remain cooler.
Swimming in the Prilep Lake and the Crna Reka is not officially regulated or recommended for public safety and health. The lake’s main purpose is water supply and irrigation, and as such, it lacks designated bathing zones and lifeguard services. The Crna Reka is generally not safe for swimming due to variable current speeds and potential pollution from upstream agricultural and industrial activity. While locals may informally swim in non-designated spots during the summer heat, this activity is undertaken entirely at one's own risk due to the lack of official monitoring and infrastructure.
