The Porvoonjoki River, or Borgå å, flows through the municipality of Orimattila in Päijät-Häme, offering localized swimming opportunities. However, rivers require greater caution due to currents, and water quality can be variable, particularly after heavy rains, making supervised beaches in nearby lakes often a safer alternative. The water temperature in the Porvoonjoki is typical for a Southern Finnish river, experiencing sharp seasonal changes.
