*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Hämeenlinna, located in the Kanta-Häme region of southern Finland, is surrounded by beautiful lakes, one of which is Lake Hauhonselkä. This lake is part of the larger Vanajavesi water system and has clear water that reflects seasonal temperature changes. In spring, after the ice melts, the surface water remains cool at around 6–9 °C (43–48 °F). During early summer, it warms gradually to 15–18 °C (59–64 °F), and in July, the warmest month, the water typically reaches 19–22 °C (66–72 °F). On very hot days, sheltered bays may briefly reach 23–24 °C (73–75 °F). As autumn arrives, the temperature drops again below 10 °C (50 °F), and the lake freezes by late November.
Swimming in Lake Hauhonselkä is allowed and popular among residents and visitors. The water is clean and well suited for recreational swimming, with several small public beaches and piers around Hämeenlinna and Hauho. During July and August, the water temperature is comfortable for both casual bathers and open-water swimmers. The calm, scenic surroundings and good water quality make Hauhonselkä a pleasant place for swimming, boating, and enjoying the Finnish summer by the lake.
