*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Porvoonjoki River, located in southern Finland, flows from the Tavastia region through fields and forests before reaching the town of Porvoo and finally the Gulf of Finland. It is a slow-flowing river with a mixture of clear and slightly brownish water due to natural humus from the surrounding landscape. In spring, after the ice melts in April, the surface temperature of the river is around 4–7 °C (39–45 °F). During early summer, it rises gradually to 13–16 °C (55–61 °F), and in July, the warmest month, Porvoonjoki usually reaches 18–21 °C (64–70 °F). In shallow, calm sections, the water can briefly exceed 22 °C (72 °F). By late September, the temperature cools below 10 °C (50 °F), and in winter, parts of the river may freeze.
Swimming in the Porvoonjoki River is allowed but should be done with care. Water quality varies depending on rainfall and agricultural runoff, yet many sections near Porvoo and its surroundings are suitable for bathing during summer. The calm flow and moderate warmth make swimming possible on warm days, especially near designated spots or private piers. Although the river remains cooler than lakes in the region, its scenic banks and gentle current create a peaceful atmosphere for recreation.
